The beauty of technology is that we can be connected with people around the world in an instant. And that is both an amazing thing and a mindblowing and difficult thing. With one tweet, the new US President can set off an avalanche in the digital world. With one picture on Facebook, millions can be inspired and comforted building relationships with people and supporting others in ways unimaginable just a few short years ago.
In that world, we can follow just about anyone.
Beyonce.
The Pope.
Rev. Tanya Eustace's dog Bella.
We can like, comment, interact, and ignore.
How does that inform how we follow Jesus?
This week, I encourage you to have some set aside family devotion time where you can talk about what it means for you to follow Jesus. Share some of your story. With teens - maybe talk about ways that together you all can use social media to share your faith, and encourage others on their walk of discipleship. Find people to follow that help you grow in your faith, and find people to follow who challenge your faith slightly - maybe they are a little more conservative or alittle more progressive than you. Remember, we are called together so that we may help one another examine ourselves.

With younger kids try this -
A great activity by Min Munns at Flame Creative Kids.
The reminder is great for all of us - no matter what age.
I wonder how the disciples felt when Jesus called them by the sea?
Peace,
Deacon Erin
