Epiphany Excitement

I love Christmas - all 12 days of it! Here in the US though, we seem to get so excited about Christmas that we skip the waiting of Advent and rush into Christmas. In our hurry though, we get tired and don't quite make it to Epiphany! (Poor Kings)

January 6th marks the end of the Christmas season and beginning of Epiphany each year. One of my favorite traditions I like to do at church with the kiddos is through Advent and Christmas we move the Wise Men from the nativity scene far far away in the room, and each day (or Sunday) they travel a little closer and closer. Check out this post from Jennifer at Catholic Inspired about her families Wisemen Adventures with this pose able and cool set of cool dudes.

On Epiphany the Kings arrive! Party time!

Here again on Catholic Inspired she gives some great ideas of epiphany activities to do. (Catholics tend to pay a lot more attention to the liturgical year than we Protestants do - thanks friends!) Dianna Kennedy, at the Kennedy Adventures, also has some cool things including a video about how to draw the wise men!

This year with Epiphany falling on a Friday, the Sunday lectionary is actually the Baptism of the Lord. Even better reason to have an Epiphany Party at home!

Enjoy your celebrating!

Peace,

Deacon Erin
