Text - Matthew

Today's gospel story is full of nuance and lines connecting across the page like a child's activity page. With our 21 century eyes and ears we have to work a little harder to see these lines, but the art of comparison we are very familiar with. Just Monday with my 3 year old niece we were working on our compare and contrast words as we tried to decide which piece of chocolate to have without touching them all. The big smooth round one? Or the thin bumpy square one? Will it be the caramel we like? Or the fudge inside?

The author of Matthew here is speaking in broad compare and contrast terms with a clear message- this baby is the messiah that has been prophesied, so get ready for this amazing story that will change your life.
